It's true, the Tenenbaums are pretty much just the Glass family. I need to re-read those stories.

    Bullshit.

    2000 - 10
    2001 - 17
    2002 - 10
    2003 - 12
    2004 - 13
    2005 - 04
    2006 - 13
    2007 - 06
    2008 - 16
    2009 - 07

62 movies of the chosen movies were released in the first half of the decade, and only 46 were released in the second half.

Also, 2005 was a shitty year for movies I guess.

    6. High Fidelity - I've seen this more times than any other movie over the past ten years. It was my date-friendliest movie for a while, and evolved into something of a litmus test.

Forgot about that one too, great flick!

  4. I'm surprised nobody named Garden State.

  5. I'm elated. So far, zero Garden States and just one and a half Donnie Darkos*. I'm so proud of you, TNL .

  6. The Fountain??!? Wow, I hated that movie, and I love Rachael Weisz

Donnie Darko for me was mostly the presentation with the Philosophy of Time Travel. Living Receiver, Manipulated Dead, Fourth Dimensional Construct, Tangent Universe, etc. I got into the concepts with the way that it opens your mind to an alternate take on time manipulation. Kinda like "String Theory: The Movie". There's also a lot of bonus material that goes into all of this more in-depth. You can keep the emo stuff.

    Hmmm... Interesting thought:

Everybody seems to think the 00's was a great decade for movies, including me. But does it stack up to the 80's (king of movie decades)?

What say you? 00's better than 80's or no?

    The competition:
    *Commando
    *Airplane
    *Aliens
    *Bachelor Party
    *Better off Dead
    *Bill and Ted
    *Bloodsport
    *Blues Brothers
    *Caddyshack
    *A Christmas Story
    *Commando
    *Die Hard
    *Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
    *Empire Strikes Back
    *Evil Dead 2
    *Fast Times at Ridgemont High
    *Ferris Bueller
    *Full Metal Jacket
    *Ghostbusters
    *Goonies
    *Indiana Jones
    *Karate Kid
    *Little Mermaid
    *Lost Boys
    *Meaning of Life
    *Naked Gun
    *Predator
    *Princess Bride
    *Rain Man
    *Running Man
    *The Shining
    *Spaceballs
    *Stand by Me
    *Strange Brew
    *The Terminator
    *The Thing
    *This is Spinal Tap
    *UHF
    *When Harry Met Sally
    *Who Framed Rodger Rabbit
    *Commando

And that is cutting it down more than it should be. One thing is certain: it is impossible to pick an 80's top 10. But can the best of the 00's top the best of all that up there?

This thread only serves to remind me how many movies I have yet to see. If Cheebs can put Transformers on his list, I would totally put Indiana Jones on mine though.

  10. That would be consistent with your taste!
