  4. I think Edith Wilson had a stronger hold on the White House, though. After her husband had a very bad stroke, she ran it all. Reagan didn't really start failing until the mid 90s.

    Maybe that's when doctors had the courage to tell him, but he was showing signs after he got shot. The 1984 debates are pretty telling.

  6. I believe that it was around the time of the Iran Contra hearings, that those around him said that he was beginning to show signs of memory loss. So, when he had said that he didn't remember something to the commission, he really didnt remember.
