Well, it should be spelled Spartacus not Spartuacus
I'm on the second episode and so far it is kind of the typical Gladiator story line but plenty of tits, fucking and blood to make up for it.
Seeing Lucy Lawless fingered by another woman and then fucking some dude was a nice surprise.

saw the 1st one. its like 300 on crack. even has full frontal, softcore love making and lots of naked handmaids. the blood is over the top, seriously, and has some really nice gore. for example this dude gets his throat slit open and it just sits there in slow motion spraying blood.
It really is 300 with a much smaller budget. I've fallen in love with Lucy Lawless all over again, it's made me watch the first season of Xena on Instant.
This show's first episode was terrible. The "blood", for the most part, was just a gratuitous visual effect plastered over top the action. The only moment it felt real was the scene where the guy has his throat slashed. But of course that was tainted by some weird and pointless staredown the two Thracian's had beforehand (complete with requisite "smirk" toughguys all seem to do nowadays). I was wondering why there was so much blood coming from that Thracian guy's stomach when he got cut. Yet he managed to survive. I think this movie tries to do what 300 did in its movie but fails miserably. Atleast in its first episode. Also there were some pretty lame lines during the fake male bravado. We'll see. It has potential, it just needs to get over this love affair it has at being a terrible 300 rip off. Because the action isn't as well staged and the acting isn't as good, either.
The gore feels like they copped out. Use prosthetic limbs and makeup more.

So was 300. The issue here is the quality of the boobs and guts going on. In which this show has a low quality of each. The sex scene with his wife was completely pointless, which I'm fine with. But they were having sex on a mountain road after all their friends had been slaughtered. OK, I'll give you that too. Who cares, I want to see boobs (even though hers weren't that great). But he is supposed to be a Thracian leader of cunning, skill and insight (with the first scene he convinced his people to fight for Rome) yet let an entire mounted platoon find his position because he was... sleeping? Gay.
The reason 300 was so awesome is because King Leonidas was a fucking badass. Defying opposition with a cheeky remark and an unmatched level of skill and resolve. Spartacus so far seems to only be competent at fighting or battle when the story needs it. And a horrible leader. But it's only the first episode so lets see. Maybe he'll grow.
But story and writing aside those visual effects with the blood splattering out all anti-gravity ruins the violence for me.
