The prequel, Gods of the Arena starts in 2 weeks!

This six episode run is set 5 years before the events of Blood and Sand. It's also been announced that Season 2 is going ahead with a new actor as Spartacus (who will be announced soon). Filming begins in April with a "early 2012" premiere.

Prequels always suck and add nothing. I realize it's a sort of stop-gap, and it helps that there's a proper sequel coming, so I'm sure I'll watch it for the tits and fights anyway. I certainly didn't need any more from the Batiatus and Lucretia characters though.

The first episode of Gods of the Arena is pretty good. Lots of tits and decapitation and Batiatus got pissed on. Lila from Dexter season 2 is here too.
