The first season and prequel are not garbage. Yes, there are a lot of tits and dicks (nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be), but the show was really good because of the writing and some of the action scenes were great. It is a bit unfair to judge it in the middle of 2nd (effectively 3rd) season for 1 episode and you have no idea the different relationships and such. Although this season is noticeably weaker than the last 2.

I watched half of the first season before giving up. The show is part of a "soap opera" for men movement that has taken the place of too many exceptional shows with truly good writing.

I too wasn't thrilled with the show at first. It grew on me. Battlestar Galactica was a soap opera too. So what. Some times I'm in the mood for Sophies Choice. Some times I'm in the mood for Half Baked. There's room for all things.
Party Down got cancelled because no one knew about it until it was too late and the major stars got other jobs with more exposure elsewhere.

Season 1 builds from the first episode, where I felt embarrassed it was made, to the season finale, where I was interested in the story and the action and cheering for the big finish. This season (season 2) has been pretty bland, wandering around in the forests trying to evade capture is a lot less entertaining than the arena/Ludus. When they take it back to the arena it really gets going again, but now what?
