Inspired from I Wanna Be The Guy along with other classic platforming games, Sivak Games proudly presents Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril, the newest platformer game to grace the NES in almost 15 years.

After having uncovered a plot to build a Supermech, you head to an ancient high-tech fortress in an effort to prevent this weapon from being completed.

You must navigate through the various sectors of the fortress, while battling its denizens and avoiding its many dangers.

Along the way, you will uncover items that will allow progress to new locations of the fortress and grant you new abilities.

Over 550 rooms, more than 30 enemy types, and 8 bosses stand between you and victory.

Also featured are 5 difficulty settings and a password system.

Much more than a reproduction, this original game cartridge is built using all new parts. No donor carts were harmed in the making of this game.

Battle Kid is a new NES homebrew release from Sivak and I think it really deserves some TNL attention. If you like MegaMan or Contra or Metroid or Section Z , hell any NES shooter/platformers/puzzle in general, I would highly suggest a purchase. It is very unforgiving, so keep that in mind, it requires a lot of timing, dexterity and memorization. Once you finally pass a few screens and make it to that wonderful save tune, you feel like your finger to controller peril was really worth it.

You will die A LOT, but the character moves very fast so you can make it back to where you were in no time. The character movement is very sensitive with a ton of control. There are save points, power ups, multiple levels of difficulty, catchy music, and even a password feature.

Some screens are very frustrating but ingenious, he used pretty much every trick in the book in this game, and then some. Because of the speed, it has that addicting feeling like Geometry Wars 2 where you just hit start to keep going over and over again

The first few runs have sold out and very quickly at that. There should be some more in stock around March 12th according to Retrousb.

Anyways this is such a quality release, I believe it could have been a retail success back in the days. If this is any indication of the future NES hombrew scene, I can't wait to see what's next.
