Thread: Ever take a break from games?

  1. Ever take a break?

I havent really sat down and played a good game for oh I'd say.....2 or 3 months now. Ive been too busy(lacrosse, SAT, parties), and just have been doing too much else to sit down and enjoy a game. Yesterday, the craving came back and now I have the greatest urge to play Zelda:MM(didnt finish), and two daker games I didnt finish, RE:CV and Castlevania:CotM(literally darker). Im going with RE first, I dont knwo why I crave it so bad, but I do.

Has anyone had a similar situation? Am I just strange?

  2. yeah i do this for about 4 months every year. it's called summer. it never fails. the sun, the hunnys, my car....all more important than games...until the snow comes back

  3. A couple months ago I went about 3 weeks without playing anything. There was a variety of reasons for it:

    1. exams
    2. I was watching tons of films
    3. lack of good games coming out
    4. i was kinda in a depressed and lazy state, so it was easier to just not play games

I've snapped out of it though.

  4. this happens to me during the summer months as well. i've been on my break for a couple of weeks, an' before it came i thought i'd spend some time finishing up on games that i haven't finished yet. i've been buyin' a few games here an' there, but they're games that don't require allot of my time or thought to play like contra hard corps, strikers 1945, and raiden project most recently. i'll probably be stayin' away from rpg's for the summer though. there's so much that i want to do this summer. i'm even considering buying a bike just so i can get in some extra excersise here an' there.....it sucks that it's like 90 drgrees during the day here.

  5. on break right now.

  6. Summer is the best time for me, as teachers here get both June and July off with pay (classes run from August to May). With the bills covered, I have 60 days to play whatever I want for as long as I want. It's a mixed bag though, since nothing major comes out in summer. I use the time to relax, watch TV, go out with the wife, visit family, etc. I spend the month of June catching up on all the games I need for older systems, since I'm not spending the money on the new consoles.

I'm spending more time on the PC too. In fact, too much time. I think I'll go play some Genesis...

    A break? What's that?

I haven't gone more than a day without playing a video game in well over a decade.

  8. I go in phases. Sometimes I play everything, one thing or nothing. I went a few weeks without playing cube...went through a big ps2 gaming time, then stopped, then started, then stopeed. Played Roller Coaster Tycoon everday for a long time, then stopped cold for 3 months, and suddenly started playin it again (just stopped playing that 2 weeks ago).

If I don't play a console I'll fire up a PC demo for a bit. With Warcraft III hitting, it's going to be nothing but PC gaming. I'll be pissed if my computer can't handle it. Don't know if I want to invest in a GeForce 2 right now.

  9. I haven't played a single player video game in months... don't own any new systems, haven't bought any games. I still play Mario Golf and All-Star Baseball 2000, but only with friends.

  10. i take a break all the time...when i sleep.
