I am not a big NYC fan myself, but you'd have to be nuts to leave the city on vacation to go to Philly.

Yeah, I guess so. When it comes to basic attractions and a large amount of things to do, NYC probably takes the cake over any other city in the country. I've always enjoyed my visits there but I always feel more comfortable in Philadelphia.
