? There is a target lock. It's not great but it'll definitely prevent what you described.
Left bumper on a pad, left alt on keyboard, I think.
I kind of like the combat system in this but they should have unlocked certain abilities from the jump, and polished up the targetting. It's so bewildering to string a combo along and hit magic and have it shoot a completely different enemy. Or an ally.
Maybe a Zelda-like targetting button or something.

Yeah, but target lock is a super great way to die really fast when you're fighting multiple guys and need to turn around and keep one from stabbing the shit out of you. Especially in the early parts of the game.
The new patch gave me a pretty noticeable spike in performance that I'd been expecting.
I'll play past the intro now.
The new patch was massive, what the hell.
Steam patches stuff by replacing files that changed with the new version. CD Projekt put over half of the game content into a single 9.5 GB file.
hah. The downloadable patch is like 20 megs.
I beat this. It was awesome. And the ending was not really as abrupt as some of the reviews had claimed, and while it sets the stage for further stories, it's not even as cliffhanger-y as the first game.
I followed to the Vergan/Upper Aedern path, which I liked, not so much because of Iorveth, but because Vergan is a great city and I liked Saskia a lot more than Henselt. I might give this a second playthrough in a little while and try the other major path.

Has anyone read the Witcher novels? W2 looks absolutely amazing, I am finding it very difficult not to play it until I finish 1.
I gave up on 1 early on and switched over to 2. Other than some wink-wink appearances from previous characters that don't matter, I don't feel like I've missed anything.
