  2. Found a bit more info, and seems my best solutions might be to upgrade to 6.60, and then use the temporary 6.60 PRO installer whenever I need CFW. Seems with my PSP-2000 model I could maybe install it permanently, but maybe I'd be better off just having 6.60 official and then CFW when need be.

Also, sounds like 6.60 is going to be the final official firmware for the PSP from Sony. So from this point on, any new game would have to work with it.

I finally buy Ys Chronicles yesterday, and it has a $10 price drop today.

    Motherfucker.

  4. It would probably be less work to just download the games you want on it from other sources.

  5. Don't fret Gohan. It just means more of your money went to the developer. Falcom deserves it.

This is true. I don't think I've ever bought a Falcom game new before.

  8. So, I decided to just upgrade to official firmware 6.60, and install 6.60 PRO as needed. I think that'll end up being the best solution, as now all of my PSN content works again, and when need be (and just to be safe) I can be in plain jane official firmware.

So far, so good. Man, I just really do love the PSP so much, and wish it had gotten even more support than it did. I'm now so excited to go back and catch up on all of the PSP gaming I ended up missing out on.

Alright, I've now logged a lot more hours into Valkyrie Profile and can safely say that I Understand It Now. You just need to get in there and get your hands dirty to make sense of the game. It has all the usual RPG trimmings, but they're all presented in such a unique way that it's a little off-putting. The story really takes a while to start up, but all the threads are coming together now and holy shit, the story isn't the usual stupid JRPG garbage. I'm getting blown away by this game in the year 2012, I can't even imagine how great it would've been if I had actually played it back when I bought it. This came out the same year that FF9 and Chrono Cross did, that's crazy.

I'm glad I'm going through Hard on my first playthrough but some of these dungeons here are just never-ending. Every fight is a battle, too, you can rarely just get that hypnosis button mashing feeling that you get from most JRPGs, which only serve to make some of these places exhausting. The combat is probably some of the most strategic and just all around best I've seen in this type of game. Luckily I checked the A ending requirements and was just barely able to get Lenneth's seal rating low enough to qualify before it was too late. I'm gonna see the good ending, you guys!

The only negative, but it's kinda big, is that there is a lot of shit here that is for reals super obtuse and needs either more clarification than the booklet offers or a walkthrough to help you through it. Still, everything about this game is unique, and that's way more than you can say for the vast majority of video games out there.

  10. If you're enjoying it, you should definitely run through the optional dungeon once you beat the game. More weapons, some challenging bosses, plus you get to recruit the three most badass characters in the game.
