The PSP version was a remake of the original and subtitled "War of the Lions". There's an entire script rewrite (which makes much more sense), new cutscenes, a few new characters and classes, new hunts, and a local multiplayer co-op/versus mode.

However, it also suffers from slowdown during spell casting which is bizarre, given that the PS1 Classics emulation doesn't seem to suffer the same way.

Still, a remarkable game.

Thanks... Even in the tutorial I've noticed some discrepancies between what the instructional text says and what the menu says. I own it "forever" now so I might as well enjoy it on PS1 for now and maybe down the road I can go PSP.

Ys games on this thing are pretty awesome. Outrun and Test Drive Unlimited (Melbourne House!) fulfill the racing needs.

Yup, I was going to say the Ys games are a must, and most of them are pretty cheap for the regular editions or PSN versions.

LocoRoco 1 and 2
Patapon (I haven't played 2 or 3 yet)
RIDGE RACER!!!!!!
Jeanne D'Arc (Best original RPG on the system imo)

The system also breathes new life into PS1 RPGs which look pretty ugly on a tv but okay on the little screen. Xenogears would be at the top of this list for me.

I have Yggdra and Knights for the DS but I might grab the PSP versions too for that price.

The load times in Persona 2 seem way too long for the system. Kenka Bancho sounds interesting and they have like 20 in Japan, interested in trying.

Riviera is very good if you can abandon all hope of coming close to 100%-ing it and learn to trust that the game knows what it's doing. This is harder than it sounds.

Knights in the Nightmare was a masterpiece on DS. One of the best games on the system. I can't imagine playing it on PSP, though. It would be like playing Trauma Center with a 360 controller.

Yggdra Union was certainly a videogame.
