It had a longer lasting fan-base than any other SF game other than ST. Even ST's base wasn't strong or large enough to blast tournaments into the mainstream. Good try, though.

I really wonder how many people bought it on XBLA thinking "AW MAN JUST LIKE THE DREAM-CAST" then played it twice and never again.

I don't even know why this matters? Buying a Dreamcast and MvC2 costs like $30.
