I was just being silly, of course it's all faintly ridiculous. Still don't feel motivated to play Guilty Gear though.

Also: Tekken is all large burly men in fighting outfits and women dressed like sluts, so it helps guys feel more comfortable with themselves as opposed to when they find themselves inexplicably attracted to Ky. He is pretty dreamy, after all.
Who the fuck is this guy?

  2. I don't get Tekken. I mean, I understand it's basically VF's younger, retarded brother, but I don't get why people would play it over anything else, especially with the VF series out there being both better and more fun. At least with DOA you could tout boobz and the generally faster fighting system built around countering. What has Tekken ever had going for it?

  3. Tekken's biggest advantage over VF throughout the years has always been availability.

You don't need a passport and a $1000 plane ticket to Asia to play Tekken 6 BR. You do need those to play VF5:R.

I'm not the biggest Tekken head out there, but 6 has a viscerality and sense of impact to it that I find addictive. I used to rag on the series in favour of VF saying pretty much exactly what you just did, but it got back on track again with 5DR.

Honestly, nobody anywhere is playing VF these days. Changes they made to 5 chased everybody off en masse, then they got retarded with 5R charging 200¥ per play. I don't know wtf they were thinking but it pretty much killed the game, I think it finished like 18th in the annual Arcadia charts the year it came out. But Tekken 6 had a damn good run atop the Japanese arcade charts, and still draws crowds of regulars. There's a lot more going on under the hood of the game than there used to be.

  5. All this MvC3 talk has me hard.

  6. MechDeus always wins for having a Skullo av.

As far as the negative graphics talk, just wait before you complain. Shits a year away.

Ok, screwing around with GG shmucks is over. StriderKyo said it better than I ever could.

Back to real discussion. Tekken does well because it's a high stakes game with a large, diverse, and interesting (to us Tekken players at least) cast combined with flashy gameplay and movesets. VF is for most intents and purposes a better game but it has less visual appeal and is mired in its own realism on this side of the pond. Availability does have lots to do with it, I guess Namco sells Tekken for much less than SEGA does VF?

Back to Marvel, can't tell much by the screen shots. They still haven't given us much hard details about the system have they? Graphics won't mean shit if they fuck the system up. I hope the game isn't slowed down to hell to make way for too much graphics bonanza.

you can say that, arcades have to lease 5R boards from SEGA themselves and pay a rental fee

SEGA did screw the pooch with 5R, hopefully they rectify the situation with FS since the popularity plummeted so hard

See, that's usually how I feel whenever I first see each incarnation of Tekken (and usually get the urge to give it a shot... again), but then I watch everyone bouncing around in juggles like they're built out of rubber and it totally kills the anime-realism mood and just looks like they never finished animating the game. I wish they would get rid of the silly rebounding and only allow combos where people are planted on the ground, but the fan base would probably revolt at that.
