Thread: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

  1. So again I ask

  2. No reasonable game developer is going to plan on having 4 characters clearly head and shoulders above everyone else in a 56 character roster. MvC2 is great because there's so much overpowered shit in the game that somehow it all balances itself out in the end, but that's not something you can feasibly draw up.

  3. That's how every major Capcom fighter ended up being as. EVERY. FUCKING. SF. HAS. A. SMALL. TOP TIER. GROUP.

Every fucking game. No one has complained. Let it be the same.

  5. This isn't even about tiers though. The gameplay that you love, the whole super crazy fast strategic mega zoning absurd combos + rushdown + traps is a result of Capcom shoving 56 characters into a game and not even attempting to balance it. They went balls out and it worked.

If all you're saying is that because it worked, they should keep the same engine... well you should just give up because Capcom isn't a charity and they're not going to put out a major release in 2010 that's built off shit from 16 years ago.

  6. Did you see the numbers for MvC2?

Anyway, they could have kept the engine and tweaked a few things instead of scrapping the whole thing. Read this article written by a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 player and realize every tool that separated the pros from the casual players has been removed. You can even attack during a triangle jump anymore. You pop out randomly from super combos! Fantastic...

NAOMI is dead. It's time to move on.

MVC3 uses MT Framework which is the DMC4/RE5/Lost Planet 2 engine.

  8. The only thing I dislike is the 6 button nerfing. I liked the old control scheme. All of the inside programming like how combo's react to this and this and that don't matter since I am not in any way a tournament fighter. Most people are probably in this here boat with me.

Also MvC2 was 2D. How can it possibly use / interface with 3D graphic without major overhauls?

  9. MVC2 had fully 3D backgrounds so it could obviously do that, it was just the copy/pasted character collection that was 2D. More the issue is the ancient emulated engine also handling the six characters in 3D at the same time and not looking like ass while doing so.

  10. Only MvC2 had the NAOMI engine. The previous ones didn't. They could just use some engine that didn't suck ass for 2D fighters.
