Thread: Mortal Kombat

  1. That live-action MK trailer that leaked a few months ago is going to be sequelized into a 10 part series:

  2. Don't want.

Now how cool would it be if Cary lends his voice talent to the Mortal Kombat team and voice the character of Shang Tsung in the upcoming game?

Apparently a lot of fans have been asking Cary this same question, and while he admits himself that he would love to reprise the role in the upcoming video game, he makes it clear that nobody from WB has contacted him.

Here is his answer to me, when i asked him about the possibility:

Me: Just wanted to say that your portrayal of shang tsung was FLAWLESS. will be awesome if you do the voice for shang in the new game

Cary Hiroyuki Tagwa: MUCH LOVE FOR THAT. SEND IT ON TO BOON…

Cary then added: NOTHING TO BE DONE LEST THEY ASK..BUT PASS IT ON TO POWERS TO BE

So here you go Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa would reprise his role as sorcerer Shang Tsung if Ed Boon anc co asks him to.

Make sure to let ed boon, as well as the official MK team twitter, know that you want the real shang tsung to voice himself in the game

  6. God. I'm fine with the game being absurd, but why is it still so clunky? The jumping moves in particular just look horrible, with that little mid-air pause where the character is in a rigid "jump kick" stance. I get why they had it back when they were photographing actors up on little podiums and stuff to hold the jumping poses, but it's such a weird thing to try to preserve. That effect also makes the resolution of a jump attack really sloppy, especially attacks that connect right above the ground.

What's weird is that there is some really nicely done animation sprinkled throughout the sample video, but no one bothered to make the basic "physics" look or play naturally. Obviously, overlooking that now isn't weird, as they've demonstrated no interest in doing it ever; it's just weird they never just copied a Japanese fighter to smooth things out.

  7. I wonder if they still have the 'can't do anything during walk animation' thing going on in this game.

  8. You're not supposed to walk in Mortal Kombat. All jumping. Always.

  9. physics has no place in a game where over the top exploitative movie characters battle eachother on a magic island populated by wizards
