But it was the arcade game I really fell in love with when I finally did play it, and then realizing there was no arcade FZ2 (or rather that it was just a rarely-seen SMS port). So it became a sort of retroactive disappointment.
Interesting. I saw quite a few System 16 cabinets as a child, including Fantasy Zone, both in the United States and in Japan. For some reason there were quite a few System 16 boards floating around in Phoenix back then. I can only assume that some local arcade distributor had decided to go long on Sega boards. I saw a couple of 4-player Quartet boards (though to be fair, I'm pretty sure one of those was in Tokyo).
