watching one of those kitchen make over shows on the DIY channel. So very painful.
I hate watching these shows when they do things blatantly wrong. Like destroying new light fixtures that can be put on Craigslist or destroying old furniture, doors, cabinets, etc that can be sold or given to a reclaimed wood / house fittings place. And Jesus Christ, painting raw oak? Dude, that is going to stain the wood the color of the paint. You're ruining the value of your expensive oak whatever.
Parrots are very emotionally complex and require a lot of attention and gentle discipline. They are perpetual 2 year olds. Unfortunately, most people get them without understanding their needs, so they end up with very miserable, mean birds. My parrot wanted to play and and cuddle with all the house guests, but he had at least 5 hours of outside the cage, quality time with me every day, and I really don't think that was enough. You probably have to be a little crazy (or work/stay at home) to care for them properly.
How does a parrot like to play?
Pretty much anything can become a toy, which can cause problems (always have to watch them). They like to play peek-a-boo, they like to wrestle (laying on their backs and kicking their feet up), they like tug-of-war. They love stuff that makes noise, I saw a video of a cockatoo playing with a guitar pretty well.
They love to dance.
Parrots sound like TNLers, except for the part about cuddling with guests.
Married.
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.
Congrats!
