I'm watching it now. It is. The worst. For some reason, the camera is all up in everyone's grill the whole time. It's fucking annoying. Also, what was up with the first fight and GR staring at a guy for what felt like 20 minutes with nothing happening. So. Fucking. Awful.

Regarding that, I'll just quote from my review:

Ghost Rider's rather boring methods of attack seem to consist solely of whacking people with chains (causing them to turn to ash) or staring into their eyes while holding them close, like a gentle yet firm lover. I think he's supposed to be eating their souls when he's doing this, but there's this one scene where he does it to this guy for what feels like ten minutes, tenderly cradling his face in his hands all the while, and it comes across more like a weird love scene than anything else.

I thankfully slept through the middle third, but awoke in time for Satan to morph from a shitty deniro impersonation to a shitty brando godfather. I really can't think of a movie I hate more than this one.

It's been a long while since I picked up an issue of Ghost Rider, but if I remember correctly, the whole "longing gaze" thing is actually one of his powers (called the Penance Stare). The idea is that it inflicts all the pain the recipient caused others through his/her evil deeds all at once, leaving them catatonic. It would probably help if they explained that in the movie.

Edit: I think that particular power was unique to the Danny Ketch GR. So they're taking liberties if Johnny Blaze can do it in the movies.

the penance stare would be better if it showed them, like you know, in pain. having some retarded look on their faces doesnt cut it. make his skin peel off while he's doing it or something. or maybe have ghostrider be like the wild west GR from the origin comic. he skinned people alive, predator style, and stuffed what was leftover of their bodies in barrels.

Yeah, in the movie there was no indication that Ghosty was doing anything but falling love with the guy. No fire shooting out of his eyes, no pain, nothing.

And how about in the same scene when he just stood there rocking back and forth like Rain Man for about 5 minutes straight for no reason? I mean, he did all sorts of stupid shit in this movie.

I was waiting for some GnR to start playing during that part. Ghost Rider was all Axle Rose. Why? who knows!

im a fan of the character. and its a bit annoying how he's played like a illiterate monster.
if we are talking about stupid shit in the film(which is basically the whole film),how about the decay dude that only decays stuff when its convenient for the plot.
driving a van, no decay, touch food, instant decay...BUT NOT THE TWINKIES!
lord have what a mess.and the part where he is riding he motorcycle, and making stupid faces into the camera, wtf......
