We just watched the 50th special, it was REALLY GOOD. Nice use of every-doctor-ever without being unfocused or jarringly stock-footage-y.

Did no one else watch the debut proper of Capaldi's Doctor? I'm already liking him more than Matt Smith.

So far I like Capaldi's performance (at least once the usual post-regeneration "who am I" shenanigans were done with), but the episode as a whole was pretty meh. I was particularly weirded out by 'Clara, you're an ego-maniacal control freak.' Since when? And the whole veil speech seemed directed at certain (mostly young female) segments of the audience.

I enjoyed that episode, and I liked Capaldi as the Doctor as soon as he realized he was Scottish.
