TDK's Joker was really over-the-top-- a mash-up of nearly every bad thing Joker's attempted in his comic book existence. Ledger's performance beats everyone else, but Hamill isn't far behind.
Wanna see a magic trick?
Heath's Joker was sooo good.

Mad Hatter is WAY too close to Joker to even be considered IMO. Insane guy with a appetite for grandiose plans in a child-oriented costume? Too close.
Killer Croc is a great comic book villain. But how do you work them in to Nolan's Batworld? It's impossible. There aren't any super strength mutants so far in the world. Just skilled, insane martial artists or anarchists who use show to intimidate (including batman himself). Thinking about it, the article Advocate originally quoted mentioned Nolan's Batman didn't have any hi-tech unrealism... yet what the fuck was that bat sonar from the end of The Dark Knight? That was unrealistic tech.
No he couldn't have. But the skillful direction of Nolan made it SEEM plausible. Which is why he's probably the best director in the world right now. Seriously - he blew up a hospital with enough explosives arm a small nation. He also had a clairvoyant knowledge of how events would unfold, including the way cars would turn (on which roads). I loved both of the new Batman's (I don't have the hate on Josh and Yeller do) because I was able to suspend my disbelief (except for the roof fall - that made zero sense as to how they survived). But they aren't "realistic".

The screenplay explains what happened in that scene. Batman activated the cape's glider, and he kind of spiraled down to break the fall-- with Batman absorbing the impact. That scene made no sense until I read the script (honestly, it still doesn't). I'm not a fan of Nolan's editing.
EDIT: And to clarify, I prefer the Joker from BTAS over TDK.
