Thread: The Combatribes

  1. The Combatribes

man, this is such a great beat em up!!! i recommend this to any beat em up fans. tons of action, a good ammount of blood, and you get to smash heads together.

the characters are awesome. look at how cool they look.
i really like the atmosphere that this game has a lot.

everyone beat em up fan should check this out. you know it's a good beat em up cause Technos made it, and no one makes better beat em up then them.

  2. Nothing's as cool as slamming faces into the ground, but the game is pretty crappy.

  3. It was the first import game I bought (for $25 off a guy down the street) and it was a big bag of ass. Different strokes for diferent folks I guess.

  4. well, im talking about the Arcade version here. i've never played the SNES game so i don't know how that turned out.

the arcade game definatley wasn't ass though. great game.

  5. Looking at it I'm guessing it's a game I will be playing on MAME-X eventually...

  6. Yup, it is a great game. The Double Dragon team made it. Unfortunatly, that meant that the Double Dragon team wasn't free to make Double Dragon 3 (arcade), so Technos gave that game to some newbie team and it ended up like crap. Still, Combatribes is great beat em' up fun.

  7. Wasn't anything great really, sits very nicely in the middle of the beat-em up pack.

I remember playing this,Crime Fighters<?>, and Ninja Gaiden at the local bowling alley as a kid until my eyes bled.

Combatribes is great. I used to play in the arcades all the time. It's a shame the SNES version sucked; they could have made a good port on that hardware.

  9. How did they funk up the SNES version? I remember having to choose between Starfox and Combatribes when they were both new, choosing Starfox, and then 6 months later regretting the choice and wishing I had Combatribes instead. I know, me = crazy. Never did get to play the SNES version.

I haven't played either version in a long while but the SNES version just wasn't fun to play. I would have to play them again to describe exactly what went wrong. Like other arcade-SNES beat 'em up ports like Knights of the Round, the graphics were good but the game was wasn't as fun.
