Yeah in the end it really wasn't that great. I want to play HL1 again now.

    Bioshock 1 was way better.

  3. Played up through Monument Tower. It's no Bulletstorm, but it's okay. The city is amazingly stilted and lifeless for all the work they clearly put into it.

    Nothing is, really.

is bulletstorm good? i have a chance to get it fo basically free, should i?
Also Infinit is still a good game. It just kind of pales in comparison to Bioshock 1.its a good point that the world is lifeless, because it really doesnt feel lived in like Rapture did.

  6. Yes, it rules.

Infinite does seem at times like this tourist place you go to visit rather than live in, but I don't think that's true in the whole game.

  7. Usually when games try to create worlds anymore there's some kind of reaction in the people, even if it's just guards shoving the player for getting too close. Here they all just stand around like mannequins while I rub up against their butts and try to jump on their heads, and then when I get in front of them they sometimes realize I'm there and turn to look at me but will never move their bodies. I also like running around and doing the game's equivalent of saying hi (often getting close or having an interact button), but there's nothing in this game. Everyone just stands around, no one moves, no one says anything except for a couple unrelated snippets.

One time I found this guy chilling in a house and he just stared at me. I ran up to him but since there's no interact button I couldn't try to make conversation or ask if he was doing anything. There wasn't anything in the room so I wasn't sure why he was there, and he wasn't calling the cops or freaking out about the antichrist, or wondering why some guy who likes to dig through trash cans to pull out half-eaten cake and finish it off was chilling in his house going through all his shit and breaking stuff. Eventually I punched him in the face and he died, as reactionless as he lived. He might have had a mental condition. I'm pretty sure I was doing him a favor from his attempts to live life like a normal person, pretending to have feelings and friends, but really he was dead inside. Ever since his mother died from pneumonia when he was young he had never really felt like going on, but everyone told him that it was normal to feel down for a while and that he should get better. He never did, but he pretended so he could try and fit in. Every day after that he died a little more, unable to ever really have feelings, until the day when the crazy psychopath armed with a magnetic blender walked into his house and stared at him. He prayed for death, something to tear him away from this horrible pretend life that he was sick of doing. Finally, mercifully, sweet release was granted.

But yeah, creepy world of lifeless puppets.

  8. Yeah but that's always going to be an advantage that games without non-enemy NPCs will have. It's difficult to have that kind of interaction in a focused game. You see it a lot more in open world games.

  9. Half-Life 2 puts this game to shame. I'm not saying there needs to be dialogue trees or whatever, but having no way to even get Shenmue canned responses from the populace just strikes me to how they created this world and populated it with a ton of NPCs and then just like forgot to code anything for them.

I do like punching people into being on fire. The game does have that.
