teh whole mason jar the is a "down home family" restaurant thing. We have like 4 restaurants in my town that services beer in them.

It's a hipster thing if you're drinking out of a mason jar in a restaurant in Brooklyn. It's sort of in the same vein as drinking PBR and wearing plaid. The blue collar aesthetic of it, I guess.

It's not really ironic in that they don't like it so they do it to yuk it up, it's more of a... I don't know, you don't expect to drink out of mason jars in New York City. I think drinking out of mason jars is a nice aesthetic.

Mason jars are cooler to look at than a normal glass and hold a lot of liquid.
