In relation to the article: That's fucking horrible. Oh so now the School Board will look at it. Not like that fucking thing had to be passed by them, before they showed it to the kids. They probably shoved that in with the "Hey lets approve the new soda machines in the cafeteria."

Are we jumping to conclusions assuming "white" and "black" are references to race just 'cause this is the south? Or is this school really that effing stupid?

From reading the comments, it looks like this is some sort of bizarre form of affirmative action. That they force the student body to alternate from year to year on what race can run for each position.
Which would not surprise me, but it isn't something I've heard of before. My high school let anyone run for everything.
But seeing as such things are just popularity contest, forcing the students to switch up may be a way of preventing white students from voting in white kids every year, for every position, and making the black students feel alienated.
