Thread: Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury

  1. Aw, the DS one was great. You just have to approach it as a puzzle game with action and not an action game with puzzles. It's Solomon's Key with lasers, not Gunstar Heroes with box puzzles.

  2. But Bangaioh was the ultimate action game. What kind of retarded decision is it of Treasure to turn it into a puzzle game?!

Your mom is Gunstar Heroes with box puzzles.

The bombs in N64 version are refilled by collecting fruit which provides a greater purpose to the fruit than just a storyline element and score accumulation.
Which is exactly why the Dreamcast version is better. I couldn't care less about collecting the stupid fruit. Use the bomb at the right time and you get another bomb right then and there. Faster, more chaotic, STREAMLINE'D

In fact, the game would probably work better if it focused on time attack as opposed to high scores.

edit: Not to mention how awesome it was to base the bomb size on the amount of incoming fire. Dreamcast4lyfe

  5. Bangai-O Spirits was fine as a companion game, but didn't stand on its own. If it was a DSiWare downloadable game it would have made more sense.

  6. Awesome news. The DS one is great, and yes, the Dreamcast version of the original is better.

Hope Treasure sees fit to bring over the Dreamcast version to XBLA now that DC titles are going to be released for it.

  7. I liked the ds game.
    Boo, Hiss.

I had it on Dreamcast too and for the life of me could not figure out what the big deal was.

But what you're missing there is that the N64 shopping system was based on the amount of incoming fire.
You're also neglecting the fact that the fruit produced, and therefor the rate of bomb regeneration, depends upon how many enemies you destroyed with the previous bomb.
The Dreamcast version isn't streamlined, it's watered down.
