If I watched a video of someone throwing human babies into a river I would applaud. Doing the same to puppies, on the other hand, is inexcusable. If they need to be killed because they are sick and dying already, that's fine but take them to a vet or something. This didn't ruin my day or anything. I watched the whole video and said, "I hope she gets hers," and that was that.

Who gives a shit about puppies? Some people do. Who gives a shit about rape victims? I hope a whole lot of people. Who gives a shit about your problems? I'm willing to bet not many, but I won't go attacking your reactions or feelings regarding them just because children died today. You can't take the first sentences I wrote out of context with the rest of what I wrote. Who cares to the degree that their whole day was ruined. Who cares to the degree that they have to question How Can People Be This Way. Like you never knew how shitty and base humanity could be until you saw that video. I said many things in this thread, but people seem to be focusing on the smallest, least important part. I suppose that's to be expected.

Yeah, you should expect people to react when you say something inflammatory. I don't think anyone here lacked any understanding about the cruelty of the world, it's only because you went and assumed people's priority systems were defective that people even needed to define to you the difference between assumed evil and witnessed evil, or consequential cruelty as opposed to insidious, deliberate cruelty. It's almost like a room full of people who get it suddenly having to stop and placate an argument started by someone who doesn't!

I assumed nothing. I based my statements on what was written on the page. It's obvious people's priority systems are defective. I "get" that people value animals over people. I "get" that people think cruelty to animals is just as bad as cruelty to humans. I'm saying that those people are wrong.

I think it's pretty natural and easy to feel a sense of revulsion when someone can so callously kill completely innocent and extremely helpless complex living creatures. I'm not saying I would save an animal over a human being, unless there were heavy extenuating circumstances (running over either Hitler or Lassie), but what's wrong with thinking some stupid young girl is a piece of shit for having fun killing tiny babies?
