Nice pick! Was already planning on picking this up in October when the Criterion collection discs are released. So I'll probably hold off watching it until then.

Ohh I forgot to make mine, hopefully this isn't too late!

To be honest I barely know how to attach pictures, so I'll just give a personal breakdown. This is a Kubrick film that I had never seen, which surprised me since I thought I had seen them all, and WOW, I was blown away.
It is roughly about pride, corruption, and the military, set in WW1 France. Poor decisions are made, consequences, ect. I hate giving breakdowns because I hate ruining movies (even if it isn't a spoiler per se, knowing what will happen can set pretenses). I will say though, that there is not much actual war, it is much more a dialogue movie, so if that isn't your thing, skip this one. The acting in this is absolutely great, as is true with many of the older classics, Kirk Douglas stars and does a fantastic job.
It is roughly based on true events, and honestly, most of the characters seem to make decisions that I could see French people making. All in all great, the movie is to be found in the usual places, although I believe netflix has it as well!

Pity nobody liked this much, it is easily one of my favorite films these days! Oh well, next time I'll try to choose one more exciting.

What are you talking about? I will give it a watch tomorrow. I like Kubrick, I like WW1 and WW2 movies.
I should like this.
Your pick is fine, dude, your pick hasn't been up very long yet. I'll check it out when I get the chance.
Oh I thought this was a one week thing. Whoops.

Great movie w/the best final scene in any movie. Ever.

I don't quite understand the ending, was it showing the humanity of the men in the face of everything, despite what they had just seen? How hurt they were by the executions?
