In All-Stars you would get caught by a lot of piranha plants that you used to be able to just squeak over in the original, too. Really destroyed the speed-run aspect to have to stop and wait for those instead of blazing right by.
If it means anything, Dyne, I like the Allstar Editions of Super Mario Bros 2/USA and Super Mario Bros 3. I remember those playing identically to the original NES versions, but with 16-bit graphics and sound.
My main beef with Super Mario Bros 1 & Lost Levels on All-Stars is the control for those two games felt off. It's been years since I've played Allstars, but I'm remembering the controls feeling extremely delayed and just throwing the whole game off and distracting from the fun of them.
But, since so many of us are thrashing Allstars, another thing I don't like about Allstars is how certain assets are shared among all the games. If I remember right, Birdo makes the Racoon-Mario-Tail-Attack sound when he spits out an egg, or dies, or something; and I'm pretty sure all Bob-Ombs, regardless of which game, made the same noise. It's little things like these that distract from each game having their own individuality and annoys me.
