That's discouraging. I was hoping this would turn out to be a decent beat em up where you get to interact with the cutscenes instead of just watching them.
This demo is awful. It's the approximation with everything that was wrong with game design a while back. Meaning - Hollywood envy coupled with yanking the player into the backseat as much as possible so they can show how awesome *they* are, rather than letting the player be awesome.
Although it really underscores how great a game is when it lets the player participation be the spotlight. There's a reason stuff like Skyrim and Arkham City do so well, and it has far less to do with how gritty or badass they trump stuff up to be and more with player involvement and choice. Whether a player realizes it or is just subconsciously hooked, they at least feel like something good is going on. Whereas in this...thing...I'm sure a player will just feel bored (unless they've pining less for a videogame and more for a new DBZ-like CG movie).

The most beat-em upping I saw was Asura has a close range attack to swat nearby enemies with. Outside of that, it's poor-mans Panzer Dragoon.
1. Watch long cutscene. Push buttons at prompts.
2. Actual gameplay where aiming and movement are controlled by the same stick. Lock onto stuff, push button. Hold other button for rapid fire.
3. None of that feels like it matters because there's no real pattern, and after about 20 seconds of it - ANOTHER CUTSCENE.
4. Repeat.
that is very disappointing. i was really looking forward to another insane beat em up. oh well. back to monster hunter than.
This game managed to bring waggle controls to an XBOX controller. I'm fairly certain it's the worst game of all time.
That's the first "episode" or whatever. But you're spot on. it was like sin & punishment with the most unintuitive controls ever but none of it mattered anyways.
The second episode is a more straight forward one on one "attempt to dive behind bad guy, mash B for power combo until the next cutscene fight". Oh but he would also teleport away all the goddamn time and you have to do a simple "dodge the vertical beams then jump over big horizontal beam" thing.
My interest in this game is pretty much non-existent at this point.
I'll probably watch a playthrough while eating lunch some day, though.
That demo was shockingly bad. I had super low expectations, but it was somehow significantly worse than any turd I expected. I'm actually quite impressed about that fact.
I also played that demo right after playing the Amy demo. I was surprised to see 2/10 and the likes for Amy, which I didn't think was THAT bad (though it certainly had its share of issues). Since Asura's Wrath is Capcom, I'm betting it won't get as low as 2/10 on major zines, though.
I still want this to be good =[
