Thread: Asura's Wrath

  1. Suda51 has the batshit insane angle covered already, and his games are actually good.

  2. Beat this last night. Liked it so much more than I ever thought I would have based on the demo. The setting is definitely reminiscent of God of War but in Asia, but the story and action is actually very similar to Berserk, which I absolutely adore. Just a story about one guy that gets fucked over, gets pissed and keeps blowing up giant "gods" and monsters through sheer awesome anger.

As far as games go it's not very long, but as a 6-7 hour anime it felt like a really complete, epic experience. A perfect weekend rental as long as you know you're getting more of an action-packed interactive anime and less of an actual game.

    Fixed for accuracy.

  4. Found this for $40 so I snagged it and have been making my through it. It's pretty neat for what it is, which is to say that it's basically the next step from Dragon's Lair that never happened mixed in with some open-area combat sections.

The first DLC also hit yesterday and is an episode that was right where I was, and since it's only $2 I got it. I was wondering how a single section could be so big (it's over 1GB) and then when I loaded it up I saw how: it doesn't use any in-game assets except for the HUD and is actually completely traditional animation. From a couple sections that weren't quite perfect I could see they were doing it by having the characters and backgrounds as different layers (presumably for altering the length or success of actions based on inputs).

  5. This should surprise no one considering my supposedly horrible taste in games, but I really had a lot of fun with Asuras Wrath. I would never recommend it as a $60 purchase, especially since there is at least 10 bucks worth of DLC you need to buy to see the whole story, but if you see it at a local redbox you should at least try it for a day. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Horrible taste or no, that seems to be the general consensus. I'm looking forward to the game when it hits $10-20.

  7. I'm just happy a friend of mine bought the game so I can just borrow it from him and pay nothing for it... I know this sound crappy, but there just isn't enough there for me to want to spend money on it. I know that is selfish but I think borrowing from a friend and playing is more honorable than pirating it.

Oh god yes, at $15 or so it's 100% worth it. With Capcom's DLC scheme I can't even recommend this at $40, which I wholeheartedly would have done before. If you can get it for next to nothing, though, jump on it.
