Thread: Shadows of the Damned

  1. but... i thought you hated the tank controls not the aiming

  2. Resident Evil 5 played like shit. This game does not.

My girlfriend was in the room watching me play this for the first time today. It was the beginning of Act 4 where you wield the "big boner". I was almost embarrassed, but she actually LIKES dick jokes. Go figure.

  3. The gameplay in this game is great. It's way better than RE5. I've seen some reveiws complain that this plays like a game from five years ago. If that's true, I wish more games played like games from five years ago.

Also, I get a Killer 7 vibe from this game. I mean it really isn't like Killer 7, but I do get a vibe.

  4. I beat this today. I think the first 3 acts were way better than the last 2, but I still liked it a lot. The first game in a long time that I wish was longer.

  5. Finally got around to finishing this today. 7/10 at best. It kinda sucks overall. It just doesn't play that great and any kind of puzzle or light switching is boring as fuck. Meh!

  7. Reviewing this now for the site, but I'm kind of mixed. I'm on act 3 so far, so my impressions are that it throws a lot of sweet ideas at you but the controls are a bit sluggish and the gimmicky darkness gets kind of old. It's like, go here, shoot this, then run here and do this -- same thing with boss battles. More about the gimmick than the actual combat.

Not really difficult once you figure out the gimmick for the fight. Sometimes enemies will get too close and get lost in your camera so you have to constantly roll around. I've also encountered some glitches where enemies get stuck in the environment. Once you understand that it's the same effect demon's souls had -- some interesting concepts and that overall the experience and atmosphere is better than the act of playing it because the controls themselves are just not as responsive as they should be.

The story, jokes, environment and everything is pretty awesome. But this is def more RE5 (Dead Space 2 is better across the board) than DMC or Bayonetta style -- don't play for the controls, play for the experience. So far I'm thinking very solid b material 8/10, but maybe not worth the full price of admission. Have to see how the rest of the game plays out.

Didn't like Killer 7 but loved 4 and even 5. This just didn't click with me. Sure some stuff is cool but it just didnt do it for me. I think by the time I was done, the stuff I liked about the game got squashed by all the stuff I didn't like about it.

I'm a fan so far. It's definitely better than RE5, since it actually works as an action game. I'm irritated that the difficulty trophies don't stack, but it is Japanese after all, so they had to do something fundamentally retarded.
