Thread: OMG a 3DO, LOL!

  1. Apparently the Jag version is better? I have no way to confirm this.

Cannon Fodder's best on Amiga. It has mouse control like on PC but nicer sound.

I still don't get the love for Jag AvP. I love sci-fi FPS and I wouldn't even put it in the system's top 10.

The Jaguar could have benefited from more sprite scalers like Super Burnout.

Name the 3DO exclusives worth playing. This shouldn't take long. When you're done with your empty post, compare it to T2K, AvP, and Iron Soldier. I don't even need to pad the list beyond that.

And I'll give credit for the best version of Star Control II as well.

Also: define "exclusives". At that time, different ports would be vastly different, to the point of having completely different teams working on 'em.
Road Rash 3DO ain't the same thing as Road Rash Genesis. That game got chopped up and put on the Playstation and Saturn later, but it still ain't exactly the same animal.

It's not like today, when the big argument over PS360 "Dark Knight" is holy shit the camera is like eight feet back.

Are you talking from a 2010 perspective or a 1994 perspective? Because I'm calling BS if it's the latter.

Both. AvP's design is halfway between the action-focused FPS style of Doom and the more adventure-ish style of System Shock, two games that came out a bit before it. Its design and frame rate were a joke compared to those. I still liked AvP, and it was one of the Jag games worth playing, but it's way overrated and suffers from Goldeneye syndrome where console-only gamers would often overpraise it.

*edit - I should amend that slightly. Yes, I would put it in a Jag top 10 in 1994 but not at the end of the system's life.

That's all true, but having the three campaigns was unique, and there really wasn't an answer on 3DO.

I'm ashamed to admit that I actually fully finished that game in the cheapest way possible.

  9. SSJN is right. Jaguar's top games are better than 3DO's best, but overall, 3DO has the better library. There isn't even a game on Jaguar that looks as good as Road Rash or Need for Speed, not to mention as smooth. 3DO has better fighting games and sports games.

  10. Neo: I put AvP because that's the go to game for jaguar fanboys. I personally have never been a FPS fan. If it wasn't for the license, no one would give that game a second look, let alone put it on the pedistal that they have. Killing Time was better imo.
