Thread: Medal of Honor

  1. I lost interest in CoD a while ago. Everyone flipped a shit over MWF2 but I just didn't care to play it.

Edit: good plot or script still to be seen, but I do appreciate the art direction of this game so far. More impressions to come.

  2. Impressions so far:

    - Infinite spawns are sort of LOL

    - Enemies have no idea what they are doing

-Soundtrack is fucking INCREDIBLE. The bass dropping right before you storm the one airplane salvage yard and the music build up as you fight to hold down your crumbling cover in the canyon where the helicopters save you is some of the better musical experience I've had in a shooter. The song playing while you gun the helicopter was also very good.

    - Sniping at ultra long distances is my favorite part of any game that has it, and this one does it pretty well.

    - This is the most authentic looking environments I've seen in a military shooter, I actually feel like I'm flying/fighting in canyons. I'm gonna see this through to the end just to see what else the levels throw at me.

All and all a pretty enjoyable time if you can get past the missions leading up to the ATVs. Man though, this could have been a fucking triple A shooter if they had cut out all scripting and revamped the enemy AI/spawn mechanics in a few spots, shame they didn't.

Thats because they clearly rushed the game out to beat COD BO to the market. It seemed to work because MOH already sold 2M copies. I still think MOH has alot of heart - some games you can just tell even with their shortcomings. Itll be interesting to see what the Danger Close team does next.

Your impressions are pretty much exactly like mine heh. Its not a game for everyone though, for sure. Hating on the plot is tough because this is closely based on a real military OP. The music when the choppers save you is chills down your spine incredible. Very powerful. There is a song that youll hear on the final mission that is twice as good as that one. It really immerses you (at least it did for me).

  4. I just noticed that they're trying to sell DLC for this fucking game as well. With only TWO new maps and two existing maps remade. Also, two derivative gametypes that really shoulda been in the game. EA is really getting to be annoying for holding content back for DLC. BC2 was bad enough holding content on the disk back for their project 10 dollar but releasing bullshit DLC at a 10 dollar pricepoint for a game that hasn't even been out a month is fucking criminal.

And then for them to release a statement basically saying that they are sorry about the quality of the game being shit is even a bigger kick in the dick. All the DLC for the game should be fucking free.

  5. GameInformer said that this game doesn't really do anything to poorly, and it adecuate, but that might not be enough anymore. I think they might be on to something.

I've played so few military shooters over the last few years that I'm not burned out on them, so one based on a real mission, with realistic locals, a good score and adequate weapons does pretty well with me.

  7. It's adequate, would be what I meant to say.

So there level where you're on the mountain at dawn and the sky is orange and leaves are blowing everywhere: holy shit did that look good. Not like the way most games try to look good, but it actually looked and felt like a real place. I have never played a shooter with such believable levels before. This is exactly the experience I was hoping for based on the video previews. All down sides be damned, it's worth it just to play on levels designed with so much skill.

  8. I just got MW2 and I instantly don't want to finish Medal of Honor. I will because that's how I am, but CoD is just so much more fun. Plus I'll be getting black ops this week anyway

EDIT: I decided to just try and finish this up, turns out the last checkpoint I was at was the lat one of the game. I played for five more minutes and the game is over, lol. A rental or a pirate at best just like you guys said, but jesus the levels look good.
