Taking a break from the pure glory that is Vanquish (Challenge 6 excepted, which can go diaf), I finally got around to starting Bayonetta.
It's good! The combat is ridiculous in a good way!
But I don't like it as much as Vanquish!

Since it doesn't seem to have it's own thread I'll ask this here:
In Just Cause 2 is there any significant reason I wouldn't want to just wander around blowing up every base I can find before I start doing more missions? I found a helicopter with a gun and took out like ten bases before I even thought about it.
Playing many more games....
Dragon Quest IX: Good old JRPG
Picross 3D: Addictive, awesome, amazing
Devil Summoner: Pretty good SRPG
---
God of War 3: It is alright, but can't get too motivated to continue for whatever reason
Call of Duty: Black Ops: Very close to finishing this on Veteran. I enjoy the single player, the vehicular sections are fun and varied, but the regular on foot stages seem to take a step back from MW2. At least my teammates are not useless now. Multiplayer is the same as always.
NHL 11: TNL's league, we are getting some consistency in play and wins now that most of us have upgraded players/boosts and better rhythm (not to mention having weeman back)
War for Cybertron: Getting this soon for a song, just what I need for a Gears fix.
Lego Rock Band: Too broke for RB 3, and I wanted to play again, so this one was an easy choice for $12 used. Still, I don't see me going back to it after I've completed the story.
Pinball FX 2: My scores suck.
Midnight Resistance (Genesis): Now that I've finished my class, I'm going to play this for the next "Dreaming in 16-Bit" video for Sega-16.
Might & Magic I: Playing it for the first time, and I imagine that this game had to be absolutely mind-blowing in 1986.
Several things I've noted:
-This is the first RPG I know of where tactical positioning is tracked.
-The game world is huge and non-linear, as well as sort of 'logically consistent.'
-This is the first game I know of with ascending armor class.
-There are tons of different items, creatures, and things to find.
I should also mention that this is the first time of gone back and played an RPG that was 'before my time' so to speak. I never imagined that Apple II style graphics (really, mostly text) could so draw me in. This series is often way too overlooked in discussions about good design.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...
You might want to play more RPGs from that era. Not that M&M is a bad game, but it always struck me as a very solid implementation of ideas that were present in earlier games.
Tactical positioning was tracked in Ultima III way back in 1983, from a top-down perspective. The Bard's Tale (from one year earlier than M&M) also tracked the distance between enemies and your party. Wizardry (1981) also kept track of row order (rear characters couldn't attack without ranged weapons but also were less vulnurable to enemy attack).
Alternate Reality: The City did a huge first-person overworld in 1985, and the Ultima games all had fairly expansive overworlds (and multiple dungeons).
Red Dead Redemption. Bonnie is incredibly annoying, but other than that I'm having fun. Is anyone here playing the zombie dlc? I'll probably get it on the 23rd since I need that time to finish up the regular game anyway.
Also 3s as always.
