  1. I can agree with that. Although there were a couple of good points after the sewers (The Giovanni Estate and the fight in Griffith Park). The endgame dungeons are a drag though.

    Just started playing Prime in the Trilogy collection, and holy shit.

    I was just bashing Other M from memory, but to be shown up this hard in every respect by a what, five year old game? Embarrasing.

  6. I've been playing Darius, KoF2002UM, SSFIV, and a little bit of Etrian Odyssey lately.

    If I get a second 16:9 monitor, it will be for Darius. It seems like a good game, and harsher than expected. Trying to figure out if the top path is really the best choice. Bosses are tense as hell, the wide playfield makes accuracy super important (you can be waiting, like, a whole second before being able to fire again if your existing shots need to travel ALL THE WAY across), and I love the skanky-ass drums on stage B. Life is good.

    Super is still the usual fighting game, here, but KoF2002 has been pretty cool. There's so much shit in this game, it's kinda overwhelming. I was never good at KoF. Online blows.

    I'm stuck in that beginning stretch in Etrian Odyssey before fighting the first stratum boss. I rarely play the game when I have access to something else, though.

    I really didn't like the way you get the super bombs at the absolute last second of ZM, and then they expect you to run around collecting more of the things that you don't even need. Super Metroid did it right.

    Prime had so much fucking style. I can still play the original and think it looks better than almost any other shooter I've played, which is insane if you think about it.

    Now we're just getting nuts. Prime was a better-than-expected (not hard) but still nowhere close to a best in genre game. The fact that it's so much better than Other M just shows what dog shit that game is. Compare Prime to something like System Shock 2 or Deus Ex, and it's a complete joke.

  10. I did not call it best in genre.

    I just said that it looks better than many newer games, which is true. It had a clean style and good effects/lighting. Games that rely only on high res textures and gimmicks could learn from it.
