Thread: The Japanese PS2 Questions Thread

  1. The Japanese PS2 Questions Thread

I just placed an order for a Japanese PS2 with NCS. Should I have picked up a [JPN] memory card as well? Or will a US mem. card work?

And any game recomendations would be good as well.

  2. Nope, a US memory card works fine.

What game(s) made you want to spend on the Japanese PS2?
    It's a mirror image!

One of them better be Beatmania IIDX...or else

Cptn. Veggie, I also suggest you look into World Soccer: Winning Eleven 6 if you like soccer even one bit.

  5. Yessir! Beatmania IIDX was one of them. I pre-ordered IIDX 6th, and I bought the controller which will be shipped with my system.

And a few shooters, a reason to purchase the Gun Grave Import to get the figure or gun, and I have the money for it now, and won't have it in the future.

I figure If'n I'm going to get an import system to play Japanese games that won't see these foreign shores (US), it might as well be the PS2. Every game (Doshin the Giant aside) for the GameCube that has hit Japan has hit here, too. And the XBOX certainly isn't worth importing. Besides, I already have my GC modded, and at present I want nothing available for the XBOX in the US, let alone Japan.

  6. Captain Vegetable,
When did you order it? I attempted to order a Japanese Ps2 from Ncs on Monday but they were sold out(as is always the case when I actually have money).

  7. I tried Monday too, and found out that it wasn't listed on their site anymore.

I e-mailed and by the time they replied, it was listed again, but there is a message stating that they are out and will be recieving a shipment within the next 3-5 business days.

So, you can place your order, but it won't ship until they recieve them.

So, Undeadking, what games are you buying an import PS2 for?

  8. Just place your order at VideoGamesDepot.com The import PS2 might even be a little cheaper the NSCX. Plus if you live in NY you have to pay sales tax when buying from NSCX. I also believe that shipping is free at VGD with anything over or around $170.00! At least the last two orders I placed for around $170.00 were free shipping. Give em a try!!

From the blurb on their index page, left hand column:

"Free UPS Ground shipping for orders over $150".

  10. That's great...except VGD ran out of stock on [JPN] PS2s before NCS did. And VGD doesn't know when they'll be getting them back in...at least NCS gives an estimate.
