and how many controllers have you bought a year?
I only buy MAYBE two full-price games a year and I play them for a long time. Shit, I still play Gears 2 and SSF4 so your statement doesn't apply to me.

My worry now is that since the big draw of a console, from a developer standpoint, is that it's very closed and difficult to pirate for, and with the gradual push to digital distribution, we could see the console market being run like the iOS market, including a lot of unfair practices, preferential treatment, and difficult/unclear rules. If it's run like Android Market, a bit more lawlessly, I'd like it more.
Also, I think the idea of a "one console future" is a dream, but the idea of a dominant third-party console seems inevitable to me. There will always be people trying to release competing standards, but the point is more just that it won't be a software company doing it, they won't be selling it below cost, and they won't be forcing third parties to subsidize hardware costs.

SSJN: none except now my $50 360 remotes have gone to shit.
I rest my case. It's a hobby that is full of ways to overcharge the consumer. But $50 for a well made controller that will last for years doesn't seem like a big deal. I have customers who buy the shitty yet cheap generics and go through them like water. These are the same idiots who pay for Live on a monthly basis.
Before my controllers lasted me 5 years of relentless playing, especially for the DC and PS2. My 360 controller only lasted three and it's the most expensive one. What case did you make? You said the more expensive ones last longer and for me the opposite is true.
My point was a $50 controller lasted you three years. I guarantee you've spent more on games and gotten much less use out of them.
Maybe you have played more on the 360 than the other consoles? Plus, they are wireless! I pay more for wireless every time.
SSJN: you're wrong. I explained why in a previous post. I don't buy many games and the ones I do buy I play for a long time. I've been playings Gears since 2008 and that was only $10 more than the controller.
KOF: no. I played the others way more because I used them to practice for tournaments in SF. I play my 360 maybe 6 hours a week. On my DC I played 6 hours a day. My PS2 saw tons of play, too, once 3S was released. And fuck wireless I like a wired controller.
