I've made some questionable gaming purchases in the past, but I'd like to think none of them could top a ~$600 steering wheel.
The core driving in this game is nice and the graphics (the lighting) are fantastic, but holy hell is it rough around the edges. The career UI is the worst I have seen since one of the Worms games for Dreamcast...
I am glad my wheel works too. I was afraid I was going to have to jump through 600 hoops just to get it to work but nah

I spent just under $1k on my IIDX and Pop'n controllers (combined). Worth every penny. All depends on how important these things are to you and how much you'll actually use them. Not sure how many racing games Joust plays, but I was putting ten or more hours a week into Konami rhythm games for a good long while. Still the most fun I've had with video games, period, and the alternative cheaper controllers are crap in comparison.
I disagree.
I think it was like $399, but then shipping a big box from China was close to another hundred. It's not an official controller. Konami made one of those for around the same price and it wasn't even arcade-spec, nor did it look nearly as nice.
This was basically one guy needing to front all the set-up, promotion, and manufacturing costs. I'm sure he made a profit, but it wouldn't have been worth his while to charge much less.
If you're so sure it's a royal rip, make your own and undercut him. You should be able to clean up, right?
DId you get that from someone off sows?
It's not even launching with the gear shifter? That is just terrible for what they're asking.
I won't lie, I've had my eye on a Logitech G27 for a few years, but dropping $300 on that is something I just haven't been able to justify (not to mention I would love a driver seat for it, which is another couple hundred). At least that one comes with the shifter.
I've seen some more expensive wheels. There's one for the PC for the insane sim crowd there, that I believe is like 1,200 bucks. It has some crazy ass force feed back and shit. So I tried out the demo of GT5 at a store, and I have to say while it looked beautiful the sense of speed just was not there. The speedometer says your doing like 130 but the game feels like you're doing about 30 tops.
I remember saying the same thing about GT3. Graphics were nice, but zero sense of speed.
