Thread: Gran Turismo 5

  1. God the little things. If you have a car in your garage you should be able to enter a race and have it automatically be selected. I should not have to back out of the special event menu because I'm not currently sitting in my go-kart. It's also a pita to remember what kids of cars you still need to buy for certain races that most of the time aren't available for purchase. I just want to race, I don't want to grind and wait for a used old car to appear at the dealership.

  2. Here you guys go the ECCI Trackstar 7000, a $2,600.00 force feedback steering wheel. It's USB based so it just might work with the PS3.

Jump to the 23 minute mark for the video bit about it.

    Here's a $250 pedal for you.

Anyway, to reply to SSJN, I've played GT1 - 3 and I felt they all had that problem. I always felt in the GT series, that the point where you'd spin out in a turn, and the sense of speed never were connected. I've always felt like I was going much slower than the speedometer would say. Specially in the acceleration, some of these super cars just have an insane 0 - 60 speed, and its just not there in the games.

  3. So I go to set up the game just to see if I can do all the downloads and get it ready while I'm doing last batch of art history homework. So I try to redeem the voucher inside for all the bonus stuff (which expires March 2013, not sure if that's the entire run of XL Editions or if they're released in batches) and get a PSN error because I need to update. One PS3 update later I try again and it tells me the service is down. I look it up and find out I have shitty timing as apparently PSN was taken down today until sometime tomorrow for maintenance. So I go ahead and load the disc and it tells me it has to install first, which takes like 40 minutes. Then it tells me that was just the beginning, and now it has to download and install a ton of other shit which can somehow happen even though I can't download the DLC, and that's been going for like about 30 minutes or so and is not even at 50% yet.

Realistic sim racing, right down to real time waiting in the shop.

PSN is having maintenance from something like 11 to 7 today. As long as you've been logged on recently, it only affects the store, account management, and something else I forget. That's why you can patch but not get DLC.

  5. Ah, neat. The message I found from a quick search listed from today until tomorrow (but was also in GMT, so maybe I was looking at a European posting).
