That is pretty neat in a nerd way.
I personally appreciate it more when homebrewers create something new. If I'm going to play Space Harrier, it's not going to be on an 8 bit computer.
Here's yet another version of Space Harrier. It's missing shadows and the ground loses the checkerboard look (like the TG16 & X68000 versions), but it's still amazing given what it's being made for. Anyway, this looks better in motion than the SMS game- even with the lower resolution, a smaller palette, and a bit of flicker.
Actually it also sounds better than the SMS version, with a damn nice music arrangement and clearer voice samples. Chris Hutt has been working on this homebrew for a long time but hopes to have it finished soon.

I'm not familiar with that series of computers, but that's easily on par with the SMS version.
I wonder if it has the awesome mouse support that the Amiga version has.
This is impressive for the hardware even with the colour limitations.
I'll likely not be playing this either; it's MAME or Saturn for me. Now it may be good for the Dingoo portable until that gets an X68000 emulator (if it can handle Neo-Geo, this shouldn't be too hard), or a better PC-Engine one (DOOEngine is slow). I doubt Dingoo has enough power to emulate the actual SH arcade version.
That said, I do admire the attention to detail that went into this one.

I saw this a few years ago. The sampled AUUUUUGH is utterly amazing for the system.
This is very impressive.
I think this has been bouncing around for a long time in various stages of completeness.
Ugly colors aside, it looks like they recreated the gameplay very well, better than the SMS version.
It's certainly better than the back in the day 8-bit computer versions
Brings new meaning to "Aaaaaaaaaugh!"
lol..at least that last one had smooth scrolling. The SMS version was solid though of course was choppy. Smoother than SH 3D though which is the choppiest games ever made. The Turbografx version wasn't so bad either though it didn't have the checkerboard ground like most of these computer ports.
I think so. MZ-700 doesn't look so good, and the PC-6000 looks like dog shit.
The version for the Fujitsu FM-77AV doesn't look bad. It clearly smokes the NES one and gives the SMS a run for its money. This has some great FM music, but unfortunately the Bonus Stage BGM is not the same tune. The Atari XL/XE homebrew still does give this official one a run for its money however- the FM77AV version is not quite as smooth.
