I didn't know the game was out already but I've been enjoying the demo.
I can't play with the standard controls though, especially not on X-Box since I was so used to playing SSX on the PS2 controller so I switched to classic style so it's going to take some used to. The graphics so far aren't a great leap from SSX3, it's just in HD but then again I haven't seen all of the character models. The environments are well rendered though and the lighting is a little more dynamic. I'll be looking forward to getting the full game soon.
If you find the right lines you can go insanely fast. The game keeps up with no pop up or frame drops, it's pretty impressive (night stuff is wild too). Load times are really fast and not having to confirm a retry rules.
So far I absolutely love this. Using the stick for jumps and tweaks and then the buttons for grabs and ground tricks seems to work pretty damn well, although I find myself mashing a lot and doing the same couple of moves. Only played a couple of hours so far, but the different mountains are done really nice and things like the night races look lovely. Just tried a global event that I saw a few of you guys had tried and it was very cool, will definitely push replay to try and get into the top earning brackets. It was interesting to see for the first half my projected bracket was the diamond or platinum whatever, and then a couple of mishaps here and there and I'm down to silver at the end. Very cool stuff going on here, and I totally agree that turning off the retry confirm is awesome. Haven't tried some of the things like the wingsuit yet, but I was able to do the first two Deadly Descents without the "required" gear. 50 space points right there!
You bet my friend! I can already tell this will be in my steady rotation for a long time.
This is pretty much exactly how I'm feeling. The wide open trick/race levels are a lot of fun, but still missing the ridiculous design that I loved about the previous games. But it gets so much worse when they start introducing the survival elements and instead of just flying down the mountain and having a blast you have to worry about tricking into some random trees and actually DYING.
I feel like crazy ass venues might be DLC later, if so I'll buy them. I've only died on the wingsuit shit and that irritated the balls off of me.
The autolog/ridernet integration is a good way to goad me into replaying the different global events, which I did way late into last night.
Yeah, the online setup is really excellent, definitely the best thing about the game. And I think there's enough negativity regarding the deadly shit that I could see them going for the ridiculous sequel that might retain the wingsuit only or something. Everything else just seems so unnecessary and serves only to take you out of the "zone".
There's a lot of potential for the series from here on and it definitely turned out better than we initially thought. But it's still very obviously bogged down by the exact things we were all worried about at first.
I just picked this up yesterday after really enjoying the demo. Rails are incredibly easy to grind and trick off of but at least it's still somewhat of a challenge to grind trees and natural edges. I could completely ignore the story mode and the 9 deadly descents since I feel they take away from what the whole concept of SSX is, during the first deadly descent I didn't go really fast or do many tricks since the focus was on "survival".
The global events are a lot of fun. I did a few last night and placed in gold and silver. I'll have to send out some friend requests to others who are playing so I can have more scores to compare to.
After putting 130 hours into Skyrim this is definitely a nice change of pace and I can see myself putting quite a few hours into this title as well. I really enjoy the feeling of "just one more run".
It also makes me laugh that you can buy credits with actual money. I don't even understand.
