Thread: Dreamcast Collection

  1. Dreamcast Collection

    Source

I have all of those Sega collections. Have 'em and love 'em. There's some serious overlap in my game library, but I'm a sucker for a cheap disc that contains all of the old games I used to l enjoy so much. But I think I'm finally reaching a point where I know I need to stop buying the same Genesis games over and over again. Sega needs to move on to some newer classics. How about the Dreamcast library?

From what Alan Pritchard, Sega's executive VP of sales and marketing, tells Game Informer, it sounds like they're finally moving on. It sounds like we're finally going to get a Dreamcast collection.

"We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged," Pritchard tells Game Informer. "The titles are still to be announced. The Ultimate Genesis Collection did huge numbers on PS3 and 360, so it's an important part of our business."

We know they've been testing the waters with a few digital releases on PSN and XBLA. Now they're giving us the good stuff. CVG reminds us that there were some retail listings that gave a date of Feb 15 for a Dreamcast collection. Now I feel like I can get excited about that date.

Sega, don't mess this up by not including both the Shenmue games.
    This could be amazing.

I don't suppose there's any chance they could put Powerstone 2 on this with online support?

  2. They're not going to put a Capcom game in a Sega collection.
"I've watched while the maggots have defiled the earth. They have
built their castles and had their wars. I cannot stand by idly any longer." - Otogi 2

  3. I wish they would. Just PowerStone 1, though. Fuck 2.

  4. Sega will fuck it up somehow. Although if it involves replacing Shenmue's audio with the Offspring, that could add even more comedy. "Do you know where I can find some sailors?" YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH!

I bet it's just the XBLA ports. Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, and Space Channel 5 part 2 (so far).

  6. I like their thinking; "Those collections of games from the most successful platform in our company's history sold okay, so now we're going to try the same thing for the console we abandoned halfway through its life cycle. That'll work out great!"
Good old Sega. They've still got it.

  7. If they have enough stuff, enough good stuff, I'd get this and I've never purchased any of their other collections.

I'm all about some hi-res versions of these games.

  8. I'm all for Dreamcast games on my 360, but I think Mzo is spot on - this is just going to be the XBLA games on a disc.

  9. I wouldn't put it past them, but at the same time I'd like some good looking Shenmue so I'm going to have some baseless faith.
