Thread: Irem Arcade Hits

I'd pay triple the asking price for the games if it were on a console. That's a pretty sweet collection of games.

LOL in the Christmas spirit I see! This is an awesome comp and I'll buy the shit out of it. I wish it was on 360 and PS2 so I could buy it there too, esp since I have my PS2 with sticks and all 2D comps in my laundry room. Mame is awesome as fuck, but I love this kinda shit. When its on PC though, its kinda redundant(because of Mame) and needs to be on consoles to make sense.

Compilation makers should be doing more to entice people, IMO. Personally, I have bought a lot of arcade game compilations but it's a little annoying that free emulators are usually superior. I like supporting the companies but I don't like supporting laziness.

  4. Very nice collection, would kill for a console port though.

    Did someone already mention mame?

I'm not really sure it's practical to expect a compilation to be better than MAME, though. It's had over a decade's worth of work on it.

I wonder what kind of work goes into getting MAME in a commercial compilation. Taito would know!

Well, besides the actual emulation, I like it when compilations are packed with extras like interviews, artwork, etc.. Or better yet, do something like Fantasy Zone: Complete Collection and include something new for fans. Just having the games is cool but including extras makes sense to me.

Anyway, this Irem one has a pretty nice selection, and includes stuff I didn't expect to get officially re-released. I'll buy it if it has a plain pixelly graphics setting.

  7. Ah, yeah, that does make sense.

This only has straight-up bilinear or 2xSai from what I checked. Also a very incorrect scanline filter.

    Reading, it's fundamental!

  9. I thought this forum was for discussion of video games, not PC software.
