How different are XX and 7?
edit: I misread that, but I'm still curious, provided anyone knows.

XX:7 as X:2
XX is basically the consolization of 7.
Tain, what difficulty level and version of Metal Slug were you playing? I've ony managed to 1cc it on Easy myself, that last stage is a motherfucker.
I mentioned it in another thread, but after all these years I finally beat Bonk's Adventure. I always got to the end, but by the time I got to King Drool i'd have no lives and die. This time I got to him with 10 lives and one pissed off cave dude, and he was my bitch.
I really didn't like the game when I first got my TurboDuo back in 2001 or so, but it's grown on me.
#17 - Half-Life 2 Episode 2 - well after the disaster that was Episode 1 Valve got back on track. I think this was really good. They finally started moving the story along, the pacing was much better than anything in the HL2 series, the puzzles weren't stupid, and the ending chapter was the best thing in the series since Surface Tension. The final battle was awesome. I just wish there were more Hunters and enemies like them, as it gave the combat a much-needed strategic element. Well, at least Valve was trying. Overall, E2 was really good and gives me hope for HL3 when it drops in 2020.

30. GIGANTIC ARMY
The theme matches the capitalization. A doujin game that came out last year. It plays like Assault Suits Valken with slightly less buttons, but the controls work out pretty well. Melee is responsive and proximity-based, Metal Slug style. There's a time limit and a shield damage limit, two things that Assault Suits Valken probably could have used to prevent all the creep-creeping. The visuals consist of a million segmented sprites blasting around at all times, and it can be pretty stunning when the more unsightly sprite components aren't around. The retry structure is the same as Valken, too, with a handful of retries for the full game. Insane mode seems to be where the meat of the game is, but you have to unlock up to it, which is always lame. As it stands, Normal is too tame, and now the game is spoiled for the higher difficulty playthroughs that I would have liked to have started on in the first place.

I posted my thoughts on this in the official thread. It's not nearly as good as 2017, and the abrupt end really sucked.

Though it lacks the godly soundtrack and awesome cut scenes of the Turbo version, this port does indeed rock. The music is mostly excellent, and the game offers a solid quest with great boss battles. The jumping still seems a bit wonky to me though. I've beaten this version 2 or 3 times already (same with the TG-16CD one), and it still holds up.

Finally got to play my PS2 again (thanks SSJN!) and decided to boot this one up. It kind of drags, and it's simply brutal on the harder difficulties, but it still has that old school charm. I'm going to try part 4 next.
7- Portal 2
Dunno what to say. Pretty fun game. About what I expected.
