There are games that are shit terrible compared to Sly 3. It just happens to be the worst of the Sly games by far, but it's still a very playable and sometimes even enjoyable game. The comparison to Sly and the direction they took with more and more side characters in an open ended world are what make it bad.

This was actually pretty fun. Very colorful, frustrating at the end, solid 7

    2. Duke Nukem Forever
    Bullshit

Played this co-op with DNG and KoF. Still have two levels left on Inferno, will probably max out the one class and be mostly done.

Deus Ex is probably next, and it sounds like it won't be a disaster like DNF was.

  4. Let's do inferno tonight!

  5. Yeah, DNG wants to play too

I hadn't played this one in a while, and while it wasn't bad, it wasn't too exciting. I think I'm going to check out the arcade version so I can play it uncensored and in its original form. The U.S. Genesis version of this game has too many changes made to it.

  7. #18 - Portal 2 - Very clever, amazing puzzle design, funny, lots of startling moments, great characters, and an ending I did not expect. It's constantly surprising and Valve expanded on the concept and setting perfectly. The only thing I am disappointed about is that they didn't tie it in to Half-Life the way I thought they would after Episode 2 (Borealis). But then again, this is how Valve works.

The theme matches the capitalization. A doujin game that came out last year. It plays like Assault Suits Valken with slightly less buttons, but the controls work out pretty well. Melee is responsive and proximity-based, Metal Slug style. There's a time limit and a shield damage limit, two things that Assault Suits Valken probably could have used to prevent all the creep-creeping. The visuals consist of a million segmented sprites blasting around at all times, and it can be pretty stunning when the more unsightly sprite components aren't around. The retry structure is the same as Valken, too, with a handful of retries for the full game. Insane mode seems to be where the meat of the game is, but you have to unlock up to it, which is always lame. As it stands, Normal is too tame, and now the game is spoiled for the higher difficulty playthroughs that I would have liked to have started on in the first place.
Never heard of this one before, but I liked the Assault Suits Valken comparison, so I tracked it down. This game is pretty fucking great and a lot of fun.

Any info out there on it, like who developed it, any translations of the text, etc?

This dude made it. He recently released a Konami-style horizontal shooter that I might play some day if I run out of Konami horizontal shooters. Absolutely no clue about all the text in the game, though, and I haven't heard anything about a translation. Also, the pretty embarassing DLsite.com has the full game for sale internationally, via DD.

  10. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

The best CV I've played in decades? This is a great game, impressed me all the way through. The production is pretty crazy, the amount of intense art in this game is mindboggling. There's something like 30 levels (I think it took me 16 hours to finish on Normal) and they're all different. There is some beautiful work here from the enemies (love the Scarecrow design) to the grandiose architecture. It's a huge journey, the scale changes greatly from level to level, a bunch of fun boss fights, some clever puzzles (most were very simple) and it controls really well. There's some awkward camera angle changes that can screw you up, but it's fine for the most part. I really liked the story, the ending was actually satisfying, the cut scenes and voice over work are really well done. Perfect soundtrack too.

It plays like God of War but it never strays from the Castlevania feel, this team built a hell of a game. One of the most surprising games I've played in awhile.
