Got this one in the mail and have been replaying it today.
Man, I miss the multiplayer style Infinity Ward had going in this game. No stupid perks, just a couple of preset classes and awesome WWII weapons to choose from, including my favorites, the Garand and Kar 98.
Great map designs, and 22 maps total with all the DLC packs. I forgot how good some of these maps are. There are tons of places to hide, but with 3 frag grenades and lots of open windows, you can easily smoke out anyone who tries to hole themselves up.
No sprint button, either, so that really slows the pace of the game down and forces you to be more cautious about moving around in the open. Also, no crosshairs on the screen at all! You want to aim, you have to bring up your sights!
I played a simple 1 vs. 1 deathmatch with a guy earlier today and if was real intense. So much more fun than the "run around, spray and pray, die" routine of Black Ops.
COD 2 4 LIFE!

I remember this game being wall-hacked to hell in multi for PC. It was pretty fun though. Still, I'd rather play Day of Defeat or WaW for my WW2 fix.
I liked Day of Defeat, but the pace of that game was always a bit fast for my tastes. Plus the maps were real small and linear compared to some of these COD maps.
I may go back to WaW.. Should be able to get it for cheap. Black Ops still gives me connection issues.
Yeah I thought about going back to World at War, but then I remembered it still had the "Juggernaut" perk and the MP40 was the only weapon that everyone used.
But I did love the shotgun and rifles in that game. You could take a man's torso's clean off with the shotty, and the rifles were one-hit kills against anyone not using Juggernaut.
Wee, get BC2 + Vietnam already - WTF you waiting for?
I thought RO1 kinda sucked but RO2 is getting some good buzz behind it. Another similar game -> Ill prolly pick up Homefront though im not excepting all that much. KAOS keeps saying theyre trying to make "the best infantry/vehicle large scale FPS on the market". We'll see about that. I have a feeling BF3 is going to shit on eveything when they finally reveal it in March though. DICE is going to embarass a lot of these upcoming games. Convient the BF3 reveal is days before Homefront ships.
/end off tangent rant
NowPlaying: Battlefield series . DarkSouls . MGS collection . Cap+SNK fighters . AceCombat series . ArmoredCore series
Red Orchestra was alright. I liked the way the weapons handled and damage was dealt out.
But the maps were so big that it just got down to "sit somewhere and squint at tiny pixels" most of the time. Boo!
Back to COD 2, though:
I'm surprised at how many people are still playing it. In ranked matches, it's hard to find more than a 2 or 3 person game, but player matches fill up pretty much instantly.
I guess it's because friends can't play with each other in ranked games, so most people just do player matches.
The only thing that really sticks out as a sore thumb in this game is the HUD; there's just way too many icons on the screen. Everything else has aged well though. I just wish there was some option to turn all the HUD crap off.
