Great choice, been meaning to play more of these. Will be participating.

How's the SNES version? Because that would be less of a pain in the ass for me.

Eh, it was worth a shot.

As far as how good Wars is, I can't really say in an unbiased fashion. Syndicate was incredible when it came out and my PC couldn't do 3D when Wars was released. When I did finally have a PC that could run it I think I was on Windows 98 and it was both hell to track down and even harder to actually get running natively (and if you did it still didn't work right). So I actually wasn't even able to give Wars a fair shake until fairly recently, since the only other option would've been looking for a PlayStation mouse and playing that terrible port.
To that end, I feel like Wars loses some of the simple charm of the original, it feels more claustrophobic at times despite having more amounts of room and more camera control, and the characters feel a little looser and faster (not necessarily a good thing). On the other hand, the even more destructible environments, ability to choose between companies, and even darker atmosphere (also in the literal way) all make it worth playing.
One thing that's interesting is how despite Syndicate allowing the freedom for the player to pick between fairly non-violent solutions (you can even do a decent amount of sneaking missions if you really want) and near genocide, it's one of the few games that offers no repercussions for performing horrible deeds. When you take over a country you control it - that's it. You can slaughter the police force and then tax their citizens to fund your future war crimes.I just watched a video of it and it looked painful at best.Originally Posted by squall_vb
PC, fuck the low-res zoomed-in view of the Amiga. And the load times, for that matter. The Amiga has the edge on sound in this one (as with most PC games that don't support high end cards), but the sound is pretty minimalist on both and it's not a big deal.
There actually is a way to force Syndicate to run on General MIDI hardware but it doesn't really sound very good since it wasn't designed for it.

I almost bought this on Jaguar once upon a time but didn't and therefore have never played it. Another excellent choice.
Goddammit EA, get this shit on GOG.
In other news, I can't wait for that reboot. I'm all excited for another X-COM style massacre!
