That always, ALWAYS, stuns me. Shit doesn't trickle down. In the last 25 years hasn't the wealth of this country become more concentrated?
I know the solution to this problem - tax cuts for the rich. And less regulation!
After all, the rich are struggling too.

Incredibly more concentrated. I don't have the numbers off the top of my head but it is absolutely stunning how virtually all GDP growth the past 30 years has gone to the top 10%. The majority of that went to the top 1%, and the majority of that went to the top .1%.
We are at a stage now where even commie states like Sweden and Finland have more social mobility than the US. The old Horatio Alger rags-to-riches story is near dead in the US.
But hey, let's cut their taxes and pay for it by making children go hungry.
from wiki:
The rags to riches theme which has been associated with Alger’s stories is somewhat inaccurate, as his heroes rarely become extremely wealthy. His characters usually hold “low-level jobs in companies, often attaining personal stability but not wealth or prominent position.”
The Horatio Algers story is quite alive in the U.S.
Also: LOL at children going hungry. We can't be the fattest country in the world and have tons of starving children at the same time.
Hey, that sounds familiar. I went from being dirt poor to being solidly middle class! I AM THE AMERICAN DREAM!
I'm Greek first and foremost. Punk rock second. White is pretty far down the list for me.
"The American Dream, sometimes in the phrase 'Chasing the American Dream,' is a national ethos of the United States in which freedom includes a promise of the possibility of prosperity and success."
No one ever said everyone would be Bill Gates. But everyone does have the promise of that possibility. It gets trickier when you try to define success, as various people hold that word to various meanings.
