Thread: Official 2011 MLB Regular Season Thread

Fuck Jeter. I wouldn't pay to see the third best SS in the city.

  2. I think Jose Bautista should go into the bullpen.

I can't believe you can hate on Jeter, Yoshi, or rather I can because it's exactly like you to hate on everyone you don't root for.

Jeter is DIRECTLY comparable to Marty. He led his team to multiple championships, he's gotten all his success with one team, he's led the team, he's done something incredible and historical, and he handles the whole thing with dignity and class. Also, just like Marty, he isn't at the top of his game anymore because he's over the hill. Seriously, nobody questions the fact that he isn't the best shortstop playing in the A.L. anymore...and it doesn't matter at all that he isn't. He deserves some respect.

You sound so dumb when you say shit like that.

  4. Jeter's over the hill and sucks now but he's put in his work and earned that. I got no problem with the guy. A-Rod can eat a bowl of dicks though.

Jeter at no point in his career was the best SS in the game or the best player on his own fucking team. Explain to me again how he's directly comparable to Brodeur?

I applaud his longevity and class, but let's not get crazy here.

  6. That's another thing - Jeter was hugely overrated for much of his career. I remember one of the first ways people used the new defensive sabermetric ratings was to prove how terrible he was on the field (he made easy plays look hard because of poor range). But hey, there's something to be said about gentlemanly consistency. Not many players get to 3000. Not many players can handle New York.

Yeah, I don't blame Jeter at all. He didn't overrate himself or give himself ridiculous awards, like last year's Gold Glove. That doesn't mean I'm not tired of hearing about him though.

Even I was tired about hearing about him.

I don't think Marty was the best player on the team either, not with Stevens and Niedermayer in front of him. Sorry. Not to say he wasn't epic. He was.

Even if I agree, which I don't, Brodeur was the best player when they left. Jeter was not the best player on that team ever.
