    Wat.

  2. Miyamoto seems want a LttP port on 3DS, I guessing as one of those downloadable 3D classic bits:

“I think A Link To The Past. Do you remember Xevious? It’s two-layered and I really wanted to create that at the time. So to see Link To The Past in two layers would be quite attractive for me.”

  3. LttP with Maze Hunter 3D-style graphics would be pretty rad.

  4. Fired up some Dolphin last night and tried out WW and TP. WW is so gorgeous in high res, I love it. I had totally forgotten that Nintendo locked the GC version of TP to 4:3, and even with the way better resolution the crappy ground textures cannot be saved. Rest of the game looks awesome. I'd use my Wii copy but I don't have a bluetooth adapter to set up my wiimote on my PC, le sigh.

  5. There's a couple bluetooth adapters on Amazon for like 2 - 3 bucks I believe.

  7. So I've spent a bit of time with it, just getting to Hyrule Castle for the first time, and a few thoughts and opinions:

    - The interface is really clean and much easier and more convenient to use. The top screen is practically clean of all UI except for the action button and the active minimap. You have up to five hotkeys to use, three buttons like from the N64 and two touch screen buttons. They're best used for items that will be used as a toggle like boots, or the Ocarina. That's a total of five items accessible at one time before you have to pause the game and reassign.

    - Gyroscopic aiming is one of the most surprising parts of the new controls, in that it easily trumps aiming with the analog nub by a mile. It's very sensitive and accurate to the smallest movements, aiming with the slingshot or just looking at stuff in first person or L target mode is like second nature.

    - The 3D effect doesn't seem like much until you turn it off. There's not much pop unless you count some of the UI stuff or text, but the depth it adds earns its place in the title of the game. Easily the best graphical improvements to the game are brand new character models for many of the primary characters, a good and steady framerate, some additional particle effects (like fairy chaff and bugs and shit flying in Kokiri woods) and the disappearance of fog.

    The only small niggles:

    - Using L to target feels a little bit off when you're also using your left hand to move while targeting. It feels like R would have been a better choice, at least to me.

    - There are effectively two maps, your active minimap on the top screen and the dungeon map on the bottom screen. While this is the same from the original game I can't help but feel like they could have integrated everything into a nice map on the bottom screen that didn't take up space on top.

    - The game's still easy, and there's no Master Quest until you beat it the first time.

To sum up, so far, the 3DS took OoT and made it it's own, adopting the controls and aesthetics in such a way that convinces you that this is the best way to experience the game.

  8. So...I played my friend's copy and can agree to everything above. I wouldn't buy a 3DS for it (since I've played and own the damn game in so many ways), but if I had a 3DS, I could see getting it...

  9. Don't have the game so not sure if it's mentioned in the packaging. Register this with Club Nintendo for a free CD soundtrack.

  10. I've never played Ocarina of Time before and it looks beautiful on the 3DS. Worth buying a 3DS for if you've never played Ocarina, imo.
